Later, forced to bury the girl's father, he broke a table for a board, wrapped his hood around his face against the stench, and complained bitterly about the task. After dumping the corpse into a shallow grave, he watched it break open. When Thomas later leveled a sword at him over a pot of honey, Jacquot dropped to his knees, clasped his hands, and begged like a communicant, swallowing a string of honey Thomas tipped into his mouth.
