The Archangel Michael is a celestial figure revered in the monastery at St. Martin-le-Preux. His statue stands in the cloisters, and the local priest believes he is the patron saint of the river monster, which is said to be his pet.
Archangel Michael was an archangel whose statue stood in the monastery cloisters. In the battle at the Courtyard of Honor, he manifested with a sword of blinding light and vast white wings, his song from the Tower of Angels preceding a brilliant flight that drove the lion-faced devil to a panicked, destructive retreat.
