Vézelay

Vézelay was a town in Burgundy, home to the great Basilica of Saint Mary Magdalene, a major pilgrimage site. It was also the place where Bernard of Clairvaux preached the Second Crusade. By the time Thomas and Delphine passed nearby, a sign on the road declared it was dead.
