The Hatter lives in one direction from where the Cheshire Cat was and is mad.
The Hatter was having tea at a table under a tree, where he engaged Alice in maddening conversation, told a story about quarreling with Time after offending the Queen at a concert, and moved seats during the tea-party.
The Hatter was the first witness, entering nervously with teacup and bread-and-butter. He gave a confused testimony, trembled under the Queen's gaze, and hurriedly fled the court when dismissed.
