Thomas's wife was a noblewoman, the daughter of a baron, who married him for love against her family's wishes. She was killed by Thomas himself, a deed he confessed to the priest at St. Martin-le-Preux.
Thomas's wife was the lady of his lands. She betrayed him during his absence at Crécy, fearing the cruelty of Le Comte d'Évreux. She treated with the count, let him into the keep, and soon after took him into her bed. Thomas later claimed he killed her.
