Chanson-des-Anges

Chanson-des-Anges was a village. Its people believed a statue of the Virgin had been stolen from them years before by the neighboring village of Rochelle-la-Blanche. In retaliation, they sent a mob of nearly thirty armed peasants to reclaim it, an assault that ended with the statue's destruction and the death of all the attackers.
