The Knave of Hearts carried the King's crown on a cushion in the procession, bowed and smiled when the Queen asked about Alice, and turned over the gardeners with his foot when ordered.
The Knave of Hearts stood before the King and Queen in chains, on trial for stealing the Queen's tarts.
The Knave of Hearts denied writing the evidence verses, noting no name was signed. He shook his head sadly when the King asked if he could swim and replied 'Do I look like it?' when questioned again.
