Mock Turtle

The Mock Turtle, a sad creature with large eyes full of tears who was once a real Turtle, sat on a ledge of rock. He began telling Alice and the Gryphon his history, describing his education in the sea, which included subjects like Reeling, Writhing, Ambition, Distraction, Uglification, Derision, Mystery, Seaography, and Drawling, Stretching, and Fainting in Coils, taught by masters like an old Turtle and an old conger-eel.
